Hi there,

I recently switched from ADSL to a fibre optic connection and now I am unable to print from any devices in the house (laptops and mobile devices). I have set up the printer on my computer via the HP full feature software (though the software did not detect the printer on the network even when using the IP address, had to use hostname to find the printer) and it shows as an available printer on my computer whenever I want to print, but when I click print I get an error message saying "unable to communicate with printer" because the printer is unavailable or not connected. The printer is definitely connected to the network as the blue network indicator light is on and showing signal strength and I can see the printer IP address.  The error message also suggested that I should update the printer IP address, but when I print a network configuration page directly from the printer, I see that the IP address matches and I am unable to access the printer via its IP address either way,

I have tried multiple times to just reconnect the printer to network as well restarting it. Is there any other way to fix this issue?

Thank you

Hi @KamuK

The IP address on the printer is of the old network connection. It has to be updated. Let us try these steps:

On the printer screen, go to Setup > Network > Restore network settings

Go back to Network > Wireless > Wireless setup wizard > Choose your new network > Enter the password.

  • Make sure the printer and the PC are connected to the same wireless network.
  • This printer supports only 2.4GHz network. So, the PC should be on the 2.4GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.

Once connected, try printing. If you get an error regarding drivers, run HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix any driver issue

Click here to download the file. Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and click on 'Fix printing'.

Hi there,

Thank you for your reply, I was finally able to solve the problem by resetting the printer's settings to factory defaults. Once I connected to the printer again, it had the update IP address and I finally able to find the printer on all my devices.

Thanks again for the help!
