Hi @anonymous3371,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP DeskJet Plus 6075 printer is consuming ink at a rate significantly higher than what HP states, here are several factors to consider and troubleshooting steps you can take.

Possible Causes

  • Print Quality Settings: If the print quality is set to "Best" or "High Quality," it will use more ink. Changing the settings to "Draft" or "Normal" can help save ink.
  • Frequent Cleaning Cycles: The printer may be performing automatic cleaning cycles that consume ink. If the printer is not used regularly, it might run more cleaning cycles to maintain the print heads.
  • Ink Cartridge Quality: If you are using refilled or third-party cartridges, their performance may not match OEM cartridges. Original HP cartridges often yield more pages.
  • Usage of Color Ink: Even when printing black and white documents, some printers use color ink for various purposes. Ensure the "Use Black Ink Only" setting is enabled if you want to avoid using color ink for black and white prints.
  • Environmental Factors: High humidity or temperature can affect ink drying times and print quality, possibly leading to more ink consumption.
  • Software or Driver Issues: Sometimes, outdated drivers or software can lead to excessive ink usage. Ensure your printer drivers are up to date.

Troubleshooting Steps

Adjust Print Settings:

  • Go to the printer settings on your computer or the HP Smart app.
  • Set the print quality to "Draft" or "Normal" for everyday printing.

Monitor Ink Levels: Use the HP Smart app to check the ink levels and see if the cartridges are depleting faster than expected.

Check for Updates:

  • Ensure your printer firmware and software are up to date. You can check this through the HP Smart app or HP's support website.

Perform Regular Maintenance: Regularly use the printer to avoid frequent cleaning cycles. If you don't use it often, print a test page every few days.

Reset the Printer: Sometimes, a reset can resolve ink usage issues. Unplug the printer for a few minutes, then plug it back in.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
