Hi @Baba33,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The issue you’re encountering with your HP Smart Tank 516 printer after changing your Jio router is likely due to network configuration changes. Here’s a step-by-step guide to resolve it.
Reconnect the Printer to the New Router
- Check Wi-Fi Network: Ensure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your laptop.
- Reset Printer Network Settings:
- Press and hold the Wi-Fi button and the Cancel button on your printer until the power button starts blinking.
- The Wi-Fi network settings are now reset.
- Reconnect Printer to Wi-Fi:
- Open the HP Smart app on your laptop or smartphone.
- Add your printer and follow the prompts to connect it to the new Jio Wi-Fi network.
Update the Printer’s IP Address on Your Laptop
- Open Devices and Printers on your laptop.
- Right-click on your printer and select Printer Properties.
- Go to the Ports tab and find the currently assigned IP address.
- If the IP doesn’t match your new router's network, click Configure Port and enter the updated IP address.
- To find the printer's new IP:
- Print a Network Configuration Report by pressing and holding the Resume button until the Report prints.
- The new IP will be listed there.
Restart Devices
- Restart your printer, laptop, and router to ensure all devices communicate properly.
Clear Old Print Jobs
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Double-click your printer and cancel any stuck print jobs.
Reinstall the Printer
- If the above steps don’t resolve the issue, remove and reinstall the printer:
- Open Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
- Remove the HP Smart Tank 516.
- Add the printer again using the Add Printer or Scanner option.

Check Firewall or Security Settings
- Ensure your firewall or antivirus isn’t blocking communication with the printer.
Print Test Page
- Once the printer is connected, print a test page to verify functionality:
- Right-click the printer in Devices and Printers and select Printer Properties.
- Click Print Test Page.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
