HP Photosmart C4780 All in One
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I've been having some issues with my printer (HP Photosmart C4780 All in One) for a while now.

It keeps leaving a shadow behind everything I print, across multiple different applications.

The only thing that doesn't have a shadow is the alignment page that is printed when you put in a new cartriage.

I've already tried:

- Realigning the printer (says it is correct)

- Cleaning the printer cartriages via printer services under printer preferences.

- Back of page smear cleaning via printer services under printer preferences.

- Paper feed cleaning via printer services under printer preferences.

Any help is appreciated, otherwise it looks like I'm gonna have to buy a new printer.

Did you make a copy and check if that prints fine?

Meanwhile:

Print a print quality diagnostic report and check if that prints fine

  1. Load Letter or A4, unused, plain white paper into the input tray.

  2. Touch the lower left corner of the control panel four times until Support Menu displays on the control panel, and then touch OK.

    NOTE:

The OK button becomes visible when you access the Support Menu

Figure : Touch lower left corner of the control panel

  3. Touch the menu button next to Support in the upper-right corner of the control panel () until Reports Menu displays, and then touch OK.

  4. Touch the button in the upper-right corner of the control panel () until PQ Diagnostic report displays, and then touch OK. The print quality diagnostic report prints.

Check the print quality settings

  1. Open the Print dialog box in the software program you are trying to print from.
  2. Select your product, and then click Properties. The printer Properties dialog box opens.

  3. Choose the correct tab to find the settings.

  4. Print quality: If you are dissatisfied with the quality of your printouts, increase the print quality. To print more quickly, decrease the print quality.
  5. Click OK, and then click OK again to start the print job.

Let me know if that helps.

Cheers.
