I have a HP deskjet 2810e printer/scanner, which I bought in may this year. It will now not connect to internet, I tried to download printer driver and got error code HPU9021GT. I rang HP helpline but they want me to give control of my computer to them so they can fix the problem remotely, I am not happy about giving control of my computer to a stranger, any suggestions please?

Hi @lukalily ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand that you’re hesitant to give remote access to your computer. Here are some steps you can try to fix the issue yourself and resolve the error code HPU9021GT, which usually appears when the HP printer driver installation encounters a problem:
1. Restart Your Printer and Router
- Turn off your printer and unplug the power cable.
- Restart your router by unplugging it for 10 seconds, then plug it back in.
- After a couple of minutes, plug your printer back in and turn it on.
- Try reconnecting your printer to the WiFi network.
2. Download the Driver Again
- Make sure you are downloading the latest driver from the HP support page for DeskJet 2810e rather than an older version.
- Choose the correct driver for Windows 11.
3. Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor from HP’s website. This tool automatically diagnoses and fixes common issues related to printing and scanning, including connection problems.
- You can get it from HP's official site.
4. Manually Connect the Printer to WiFi
- Use the HP Smart app to manually set up the WiFi connection again. Here’s how:
- Open the HP Smart app on your PC.
- Click Add Printer and follow the instructions to reconnect it to your WiFi network.
- Make sure that both the printer and your computer are on the same network.
5. Disable Antivirus/Firewall Temporarily
- Sometimes, firewall or antivirus software can block the driver installation. Temporarily disable your firewall or antivirus software and try installing the driver again.
- If the installation works, re-enable the firewall/antivirus afterward.
6. Update Windows
- Ensure that Windows 11 is fully updated by checking Settings > Windows Update. Outdated system files can cause compatibility issues with drivers.
7. Use a USB Cable Temporarily
- If the wireless setup continues to fail, connect your printer to your PC using a USB cable. This may allow you to bypass the WiFi setup temporarily until the driver is fully installed.
8. Clean Up Previous Installations
- If the error persists, try uninstalling any previous HP drivers using Programs and Features (Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program), and then reinstall the latest driver.
