Hi @NKMAN,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're receiving the message "There is a problem with the printer or ink system" on your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One printer, it typically indicates an issue with the printer's ink system. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem.
- Restart the printer: Turn off the printer, unplug the power cord, and wait for about 60 seconds. Then, plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer. This can often clear temporary errors.
- Check ink levels: Use the printer's control panel or software on your computer to check the ink levels. Make sure that all ink cartridges have sufficient ink. If any cartridges are low or empty, replace them.
- Reinstall ink cartridges: Remove the ink cartridges from the printer and reinstall them properly. Ensure they are inserted securely and in the correct slots.
- Clean the ink cartridges: If the ink cartridges are clogged or dirty, it can cause printing issues. Remove the cartridges and clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges and in the printer using a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water.
- Update printer firmware: Visit the HP Support website (support.hp.com), enter your printer model, and download the latest firmware update if available. Follow the instructions provided to update the printer's firmware.
- Perform a printer reset: On the printer's control panel, go to the "Settings" or "Setup" menu and look for the "Reset" or "Restore Defaults" option. Perform a reset to restore the printer to its default settings.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
