My HP Printer (OfficeJet Pro 6978) wil not print from my HP laptop. The blue light on the printer is flashing. I have tried turning off the router and printer for 30 seconds and turning back on but still nothing. How can I fix this?

Hi @Sully522707,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The flashing blue light on your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 typically indicates a Wi-Fi connectivity issue. Since you've already tried restarting the router and the printer, here are some additional steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
Check Wi-Fi Connection:
- Ensure that the Wi-Fi network is working and that your printer is connected to the correct network.
- Try moving the printer closer to the router to improve signal strength.
Re-establish Wi-Fi Connection:
- On the printer, go to Setup > Network Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard and follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect your printer to the Wi-Fi.
Check Printer Status on Laptop:
- On your HP laptop, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Ensure your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 is set as the default printer.
- Right-click on the printer and select See what's printing to check if there are any stuck print jobs. If there are, clear the print queue.
Reinstall Printer Drivers:
- Sometimes drivers can become corrupted. Uninstall the current printer drivers and download the latest drivers from the HP website. Install them and try printing again.
Reset Printer to Factory Defaults:
- If none of the above works, resetting the printer to factory settings might help:
- On the printer control panel, go to Setup > Restore Defaults and select Restore Network Settings.
Print Using USB:
- If you're in urgent need of printing, try connecting the printer to your laptop using a USB cable to see if it prints this way. This could help identify whether the issue is related to Wi-Fi.
After performing these steps, check if the blue light stops flashing and if the printer starts working again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
