Hi @Banjo161
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're dealing with an error where your printer is not printing after replacing the ink cartridges, and you're seeing an orange light next to the ink symbol with an E on the screen. This typically indicates an issue with the ink cartridge installation or a related error.
Here are a few steps you can follow to troubleshoot the issue:
1. Check the Ink Cartridges Again
Even though you’ve already reinstalled the cartridges, sometimes they may not be seated properly or could be defective.
- Turn off the printer and open the cartridge access door.
- Remove the ink cartridges again and check for any protective tape or plastic that might have been missed during installation. Make sure the cartridges are genuine HP cartridges and not counterfeit.
- Reinsert the cartridges firmly, ensuring they click into place.
- Close the printer and turn it back on to see if the error clears.
2. Perform a Printer Reset
A reset can sometimes resolve issues related to ink or printing errors:
- Turn off the printer.
- Unplug the printer from the power source.
- Wait for 30 seconds to 1 minute to allow the printer to completely power down.
- Plug the printer back in, turn it on, and check if the error is still present.
3. Check the Ink Levels
The orange light and E error code could indicate that the printer is detecting an issue with the ink levels or the cartridges:
- Check ink levels through the HP Smart app (if available) or by accessing the printer’s control panel menu.
- If the ink levels show as low or empty, it could indicate that the cartridges are not recognized properly, even though they are new.
I hope this helps.
