I have an HP Envy 6458e which is not printing when I attempt to print form a downloaded document or from my computer. When I print, it sounds like it's printing but only a blank page comes out.

 

The printer makes copies perfectly fine.

 

I performed a printer head cleaning twice and the test page prints,

 

When I print a test page from HP smart test page, it also prints fine. 

 

Does anyone have a clue what might be going on?

Try these steps:

1. Check Print Settings

  • Default Printer:
    • Ensure that the HP Envy 6458e is set as your default printer on your computer.
    • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers on your computer, right-click on the HP Envy 6458e, and select Set as default printer.

2. Check for Printer Queue Issues

  • Clear Print Queue:
    • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, find the HP Envy 6458e, right-click, and select See what's printing.
    • Cancel any pending print jobs and try printing the document again.

3. Update or Reinstall Printer Driver

  • Update Driver:
    • Ensure you have the latest printer drivers installed for your HP Envy 6458e.
    • Visit the HP Support website, download the latest drivers, and install them.
  • Reinstall Driver:
    • Uninstall the existing printer driver and software.
    • Reinstall the driver using the latest version from the HP Support website.

4. Check Connection

  • USB Connection:
    • If connected via USB, ensure the cable is securely connected to both the printer and the computer.
  • Wireless Connection:
    • If connected wirelessly, make sure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer.
    • Restart your router and printer to refresh the network connection.

5. Check Document and Software

  • Try Different Document:
    • Attempt to print different types of documents, such as a text file, PDF, or image, to see if the issue persists.
  • Use HP Smart App:
    • Use the HP Smart app to print the document and see if it prints successfully.
    • Download the HP Smart app from the HP website if you don't already have it installed.

6. Run Print and Scan Doctor

  • HP Print and Scan Doctor:
    • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool. This software can diagnose and fix various printing and scanning issues.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to detect and resolve potential issues.
