Product: HP OfficeJet 5740 e-All-in-One Printer
Operating System: macOS 10.15 Catalina

I own my 5740 for many years and has been reliable. Today on my Mac found my “printer unreachable at this time”. I found in community support a similar problem with a stated solution. I followed instructions, deleted printer from list then clicked + next window listed my printer, I highlighted my printers name and selected secure AirPrint. The setting up window opened and seem to start the process but then a smaller window opened indicating “Unable to verify the printer on your network.” unable to connect to HP Officejet 5740 series [74B81E]._ipps.tcp.local. due to an error. Would you still like to create the printer?  I clicked to continue but returned an error window, unable to communicate.  Can you help me. Please advise.

The printer has an IP address but ping 'Destination host unreachable' It's a "feature" of all the home hubs and is an issue with DHCP. It will re-occur, and the only solution is to give the printer a static IP address outside of the DHCP range.
