I had a print error message, I deleted the print job from the print queue but the printer will not run any of the remaining jobs.  It will copy and scan without a problem otherwise.

Hi @Luis934,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When an HP printer is not responding to print commands, even though it can copy and scan, the issue is often related to the print queue, driver, or connectivity. Here's how to resolve the issue.

Restart Devices

  1. Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Restart your computer.
  3. Wait for 2-3 minutes and plug the printer back in, then turn it on.

Clear Print Queue

  1. On your computer, search for "Services" and open the app.
  2. Scroll down to "Print Spooler", right-click it, and select "Stop".
  3. Go to the folder:
C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS (you may need admin access).
  4. Delete all files in this folder to clear the print queue.
  5. Return to the Services window, right-click Print Spooler, and select Start.

Check Printer Status

  1. Ensure the printer is set as the default printer:
    • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers (or Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners).
    • Right-click your printer and choose Set as Default Printer.
  2. Verify that the printer is not offline:
    • Right-click the printer and ensure Use Printer Offline is unchecked.

Reinstall or Update Printer Drivers

  1. Visit the HP Customer Support website and download the latest drivers for your printer model.
  2. Uninstall the current printer driver:
    • Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, find the printer software, and uninstall it.
  3. Install the downloaded driver.

Reset Printing System (Mac Only)

If you're on a Mac:

  1. Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Right-click in the printer list (or press Control and click) and select Reset printing system.
  3. Add the printer back.

Test Connectivity

  1. If using Wi-Fi, ensure the printer and computer are on the same network.
  2. Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows) or HP Smart app to detect and fix connectivity issues.

Run a Test Print

After performing the above steps, try sending a test print to ensure the printer responds.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
