I have an HP envy photo printer. It randomly stopped working. I’ve tried to reset it, unplug it but it won’t turn on all the way. When I plug it in, it starts to turn on and starts loading but then stops after the first loading dot.

Hi @Kwhalford,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for reaching out — I know how concerning it is when your printer won’t fully power on. Based on your description, it sounds like your HP printer is getting stuck during the startup process (e.g., freezing after the first loading dot).

Here’s what you can try:

1. Power Reset

  • Unplug the printer from the wall and wait at least 60 seconds.
  • While unplugged, press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds.
  • Plug it directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector or power strip) and try turning it on again.

2. Check Power Source

  • Make sure the power cord and adapter are securely connected.
  • Try a different wall outlet to rule out power issues.

3. Firmware Recovery (if accessible)

  • If the printer has a touchscreen and you can access any menu before it freezes, try navigating to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore or Update Firmware.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
