Hello Khloie,

Thank you for posting your concern,

If you're encountering an error code while trying to install a printer on your laptop through the app and settings, here are several steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

  1. Identify Error Code: Take note of the exact error code or message. Often the code can give specific insights into what might be wrong.

  2. Check Connections: Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your laptop, either via USB or over the network. For Wi-Fi connections, make sure both devices are on the same network.

  3. Restart Devices: Restart both your printer and laptop. This simple step can often resolve temporary glitches or connectivity issues.

  4. Update Drivers: Visit the official HP website or use the HP Smart app to ensure you have the latest drivers for your printer model.

  5. Reinstall Printer: Remove the printer from your laptop’s list of devices and attempt to reinstall it. Go to 'Settings' > 'Devices' > 'Printers & Scanners', select the printer, and click 'Remove device', then try adding the printer again.

  6. Run Printer Troubleshooter: Windows has a built-in printer troubleshooter which can diagnose and sometimes resolve printing issues. Go to 'Settings' > 'Update & Security' > 'Troubleshoot' and select 'Printer'.

  7. Check for OS Updates: Ensure that your operating system is up to date. Sometimes, compatibility issues can occur with older versions of your operating system.

  8. Firewall/Security Settings: Review any firewall or security software that might be blocking the printer installation or connection process. You may need to adjust settings to allow the app or installation software to communicate through your firewall.

If after trying these steps you're still experiencing issues, it may be beneficial to reach out to HP Customer Support for further assistance, providing them with the specific error code you've encountered.
