Hi @DaveHawkins ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're having trouble getting your HP Smart Tank 5103 All-in-One Printer to work with your iOS device. Let's try some steps to resolve this issue:
May I know
1. Since when are you facing this issue
2. Have you made any changes on your printer post that this issue raised and have you observed any light blinking on the display and error code
3. May I know if you are using genuine cartridge's
4. Could you please elaborate on the issue?
Ensure Printer is Powered On:
- Make sure the printer is plugged in and turned on.
Check Wi-Fi Connection:
- Ensure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iOS device. You can check this on the printer's control panel (look for a Wi-Fi symbol or settings option).
Update HP Smart App: HP printer setup (HP Smart app)
- Ensure the HP Smart app on your iOS device is updated to the latest version. You can update it through the App Store.
Re-add Printer to the HP Smart App: HP printer setup (HP Smart app)
- Open the HP Smart app and try removing the printer if it's listed. Then, try adding it again:
- Open the app > Tap the + icon > Select your printer from the available list.
- If it's not detected, follow the prompts to connect via Wi-Fi Direct or use a USB cable temporarily.
Restart Devices:
- Power off your printer, iOS device, and Wi-Fi router. Wait for about 30 seconds, then power everything back on and test again.
Check for Printer Errors:
- Ensure there are no error messages or blinking lights on the printer's display. If there are, resolve those first by checking the printer’s manual or screen prompts.
AirPrint:
- If you're printing directly from an app (like Photos, Safari, etc.), ensure that AirPrint is enabled:
- On your iOS device, select Print > Choose the printer > Ensure the printer is listed as an AirPrint-enabled device.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
