HP DeskJet 2725 All-in-One Printer

Trying to print 8.5x11 paper, standard letter size that I have always done. Recently it started saying it was jamming and the document was coming out super small. Noticed that the paper size drop down only said 5x7. I checked EWS and it said that large size was set to 8.5x11 and paper. I tried unplugging it. There weren't any updates either.

Hi @Cass8713 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP DeskJet 2725 All-in-One Printer might be experiencing a paper size detection issue. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot this:

1. Check Printer Settings on the Computer

In the Print Dialog:

  • When printing, make sure the correct paper size (8.5x11, Letter) is selected.
  • Ensure scaling is set to 100% or "Actual Size" rather than "Fit to Page" or another option that could affect the print size.

Printer Preferences:

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click your printer and select Printer Preferences.
  • Make sure the Default Paper Size is set to 8.5x11, Letter.

2. Check Printer Settings on the Printer Panel

  • If your printer has a display, navigate through the Setup or Settings menu to ensure the Paper Size is correctly set to Letter (8.5x11). Also, make sure the paper type matches the kind you're using (plain paper).

3. Reset Printer to Factory Defaults

  • If the issue persists, you can try resetting the printer to factory settings:
    • Turn off the printer.
    • Hold down the Power button and press the Cancel button (X) 3 times, then press the Resume button 2 times.
    • Release the Power button, and the printer should reset to factory defaults.

4. Reinstall Printer Driver

  • Sometimes, reinstalling the printer driver can resolve paper size detection issues:
    • Uninstall the printer from your computer.
    • Download the latest driver for your printer from HP's website.
    • Install the printer again and verify that the paper size is correctly set.

5. Check Paper Tray and Sensors

  • Ensure that the paper tray guides are adjusted properly to fit the 8.5x11 paper snugly.
  • Inspect the tray and feed rollers for any debris that might interfere with the sensors.

6. Check for Software or Firmware Updates

  • If there are no new updates, ensure that the HP Smart app and printer firmware are up to date. Even though you mentioned there were no updates, it's good to check again via the HP Smart app or directly on the printer's EWS.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
