HP DeskJet 2720 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello.

My printer HP DeskJet 2720 All-in-One Printer only prints correctly the Printer Status Report. Other documents, including quality reports and alignment docs are missing lines or completely blank despite having ink on both cartridges and the printhead moving as if it was printing.
I've tried HP Smart´s repair tool, cleaning the printheads, realigning, printing different kinds of file from HP Smart and other aplications and in color and black and wwhite but every test have been unsuccessful.

The printer was working without issues until today when in the middle of  a printing job started to act like this. I'd usually assume that the cartridges ran out of ink and the ink readings are wrong, but I cannot understand why the Printer Status Reports are being printed normally then.
Any ideas on what may be going wrong?

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

  • Turn on the printer.

  • Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector.
  • Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

  • Disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the printer(if connected). If your printer has a network or wireless connection, leave it connected.

  • Remove the ink cartridges from the printer.

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and from the wall outlet or power strip.

  • Wait at least 60 seconds.

  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

  • Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

  • Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

  • Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

  • Reinsert the ink cartridges, and then close the ink cartridge access door.

  • If you receive a prompt to print a calibration page, do so.

  • If you disconnected the USB cable, reconnect it to the rear of the printer.

  • Try to print.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
