HP 2540
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

As the title says, as soon as I set the paper format to 4x6 instead of letter, the printer activates, makes a sound like its rubbing something against the photo paper, then drops a blank photo.  If I leave the setting to letter, it will print, but of course cut most of the image off.

All my cartridges are full and the latest drivers have been installed. I have also run HP Doctor with no available fix. My blank photo paper is in the correct position to start and the paper holder is secure against the blanks.

This happens regardless of using HP Smart or any other Photo printing software.

@radebn

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Step 1: Use genuine HP ink cartridges
  • Step 2: Allow the printer to rest
  • Step 3: Check the paper
  • Step 4: Check the print settings
  • Step 5: Check the estimated ink levels
  • Step 6: Replace any low or empty ink cartridges

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
