HP Photosmart C3180 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

This random printing of error message began after some kind of mechanical problem with the paper feed. It required several manual resets to clear the mechanical problem. Now, every day, at random times the printer will print out the following:
GET /DevMgmt/ProductStatusDyn.xm. HTTP/1.1
HOST:  localhost
GET .cdm/system/v1/status HTTP/1.1
HOST: localhost
Print/scan Doctor couldn't solve the problem. Print/Scan Doctor never really solves any problems. I do realize that Microsoft is dropping support for all 32-bit software packages, and I will have to trash my old computer. Does this also mean that I will have to replace the printer also?

Hi @jaysee, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Your HP Photosmart C3180 printing random HTTP request messages is likely due to a software or firmware issue, possibly triggered by the mechanical failure you experienced. These messages resemble network communication requests, even though your C3180 is a USB-only printer. Here’s what you can try:

Troubleshooting Steps

Uninstall and Reinstall Drivers

  • Unplug the printer from the computer.
  • Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features, and uninstall all HP-related software.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Download and install the latest HP Photosmart C3180 driver from HP’s website.
  • Reconnect the printer and check if the issue persists.

Check Print Queue & Scheduled Tasks

  • Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on your printer and select See what’s printing.
  • Cancel all queued jobs.
  • Check if the issue still occurs.
  • Open Task Scheduler (search for it in the Start menu).
  • Look under HP-related tasks and disable any that seem related to status reporting.

Disable Bi-Directional Support

  • Go to Devices and Printers > Right-click on the C3180 > Printer Properties > Ports Tab.
  • Uncheck Enable bidirectional support.
  • Click OK and restart the computer.

Perform a Hard Reset

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Disconnect it from power for 2-3 minutes.
  • Hold the Power button for 30 seconds (while unplugged).
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

Do You Need to Replace the Printer?

No, not necessarily. The C3180 is an older model but should still work with Windows 10 (even 32-bit). If you plan to upgrade to a 64-bit Windows system, you may need to reinstall drivers, but the printer itself should work.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
