HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Printer

The printer prints kind of wavey or zig-zag lines. its occurs only with vertical lines, as its can be seen on the picture the horizontal lines are fine.

Hi @haran_za,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you might be experiencing a problem with print quality, specifically with vertical lines appearing wavy or zig-zaggy on your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 printer. This issue could be caused by several factors, including,

  • Misalignment or clogged print heads: If the print heads are misaligned or clogged, it can cause irregularities in the printed output. Try running a print head alignment or cleaning cycle from the printer's settings menu to see if it improves the print quality.
  • Low-quality or incompatible paper: The type and quality of paper you're using can affect print quality. Make sure you're using high-quality, compatible paper for your printer. Also, check that the paper is loaded correctly in the tray and that it's not wrinkled or damaged.
  • Printer driver or firmware issues: Sometimes, print quality problems can be caused by outdated or corrupted printer drivers or firmware. Make sure you have the latest drivers and firmware installed for your printer by visiting the HP support website and downloading any available updates.
  • Mechanical issues: If none of the above solutions solve the problem, there may be a mechanical issue with the printer, such as a damaged roller or other internal component.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
