ENVY 5640 e-All-in-One printer
macOS 10.14 Mojave

My printer can be seen by the wi-fi but I cant print from mobile phone or iMac. A web access test page tells me that "Your network requires a proxy server address when connecting to the internet".

I have followed some helpful advice on these boards and identified the IP address for the printer and found the EWS page online. I have also used advice to access the settings on the iMac (which is running Mojave 10.14 OS) but there are no proxy settings to cut and paste in the Network>Advanced>Proxies box.

i am struggling to download new drivers as well, a diaglogue box saying "HP Easy start cannot move file" appears instead of downloading.

All advice gratefully received.

Hi @LucyM4000,

A warm welcome to HP Community!

I believe web services is only required if you are using ePrint or web services associated apps. Web services is not required if you are printing directly from your phone or Mac.

Any error when you try to print from iMac and phone?

Does the print job appear in the print queue?

Most of the web services connectivity issues can be resolved by assigning a manual IP and Google DNS. Here is how to do it:

Please ensure the printer is up-to-date with its firmware. If you are unsure, you can download and install the latest firmware update from here.

Once you are up-to-date with the firmware, please set a manual IP address and manual DNS servers for the printer. The steps on how to set a manual IP address can be found here.

For the DNS servers please use 8.8.8.8 for the Manual Preferred DNS Server and 8.8.4.4 for the Alternate DNS server. These are Google’s public DNS servers.

If issue persists, try the steps available in this document.

Let me know how it goes!
