I am unable to print to our hp officejet 4630 printer. The printer says it is connected to our home wireless network. However, it either says it is idle or not connected to the network on my mac. The only way it will sometimes print is if I switch to a wireless network that is named the same as the printer. Airprint also does not work. We have a Linksys router. Not sure if that is the problem or not. I have run all kinds of diagnostic printouts on the printer and they all say it is connected. I also have tried putting the ip address in my web browser and it cannot find the printer when connected to our home network. Please help!

Thank you for trying my earlier recommendations. I believe the issue you are experiencing may be with your wireless router. Normally I would have you make sure it's configured properly, but you are unable to access the EWS.
I would like you to try and set a Static IP so we can try and get into the EWS. Please continue here: Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection
Any luck? If you were able to set a static IP, please try and access the EWS. Follow steps listed below:
1. Open up the printers EWS (use my earlier recommendations)
2. Go to the Network tab
3. Network Protocols
4. Select Enable IPv4 ONLY
Now with the IPv4 enabled you should be able to print wirelessly.
If not, you will want your router company to make sure that multicasting is enabled, bonjour protocol is enabled, mac filtering is disabled, and have them check if there are any firmware updates for the router, and check firewalls on the router to make sure they are not blocking the communication
The following ports are also used by your HP device and might need to be opened on your firewall configuration
Incoming ports (UDP) are destination ports on the computer while outgoing ports (TCP) are destination ports on the HP device
Incoming (UDP) ports
137, 138, 161, 427
Outgoing (TCP) ports
137, 139, 427, 9100, 9220, 9500
The ports are used for the following functions:
Printing
UDP ports 427, 137 161
TCP port 9100
Photo card upload
UDP ports 137 138 427
TCP 139
Scanning
UDP port 427
TCP 9220, 9500
Faxing
UDP port 427
TCP port 9220
HP Device Installation
UDP port 427
Web Services
80, 443, 5222 and 5223
Any changes? I appreciate your persistence!

Hello @MiamiGirl,
Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums! 🙂 I see you are unable to print to your HP Officejet 4630 wirelessly. You have tried some recommendations with no success.
Because you are not able to access the printers EWS we know that the printers is not broadcasting a proper IP address. I believe what is happening is you have the printer set up on wireless direct which is why when you switch the network to the printers name it prints.
I would like you to continue troubleshooting here: 'Printer Offline' or 'Printer Not Responding' Message (OS X)
What happens are you now able to print wirelessly from your network?
Let me know the outcome. If this resolves the issue please let others know by marking this post as "Accept as Solution". To simply say thanks, click the "Thumbs up" below! 🙂 If you require further assistance let me know and I will gladly do all I can to help.

@HevnLgh
Thank you for the direction. After trying all the steps from start to finish, I was only get it to print one time from one of our MacBooks and one time from our Mac. After that one time, the printer was showing up as "idle" or got the message "the printer is not responding" from those same devices. The same error messages were on another one of our MacBooks from the beginning. Never could print from that one. And we could not use AirPrint from any iPhone or iPad in our house. All of those devices were restarted as well. Also still unable to open the website with the IP address that the printer is displaying on the screen, even though the wireless report says it is connected to our home wifi and there are no issues.
Any other ideas?

Thank you! I was able to chat with Linksys support tonight and it seems we got the problem fixed. It had to do with our 2.4 GHz network having the same name as our 5.0 GHZ network. Once we renamed one of them, the problem seemed to resolve itself. The other settings you suggested were all correct before we started with that. I appreciate you giving me suggestions and referring me to Linksys. Hopefully this is a permanent fix.
