About a week ago I tried to cancel an active print job by hitting the red “x” on my printer. It stopped printing, but ever since then I have not been able to print anything else because it says “the printer is in use.” It obviously is not in use and is just sitting there. My printer is connected to my wifi and online and says it’s “ready” but then will say it is in use.

Hi @RTeixeira1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Your HP DeskJet 2755e seems to be stuck in a "print job" state even though there are no active jobs. Here are a few troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue.
Clear Print Queue
- On your computer, open Control Panel → Devices and Printers.
- Find your HP DeskJet 2755e, right-click on it, and select See what’s printing.
- If there are any stuck print jobs, right-click on them and choose Cancel.
- Restart your computer and try printing again.
Restart the Print Spooler (Windows)
- Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
- Scroll down and find Print Spooler.
- Right-click it and select Restart.
- Try printing again.
Power Cycle the Printer
- Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power outlet.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn it on.
Reset the Printer
- With the printer on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall.
- Wait 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
Remove and Reinstall Printer Drivers
- Go to Control Panel → Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on your HP DeskJet 2755e and select Remove device.
- Restart your computer.
- Download the latest drivers from the HP Support website and reinstall the printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
