HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I purchased a pair of genuine HP printer cartridges and installed them.  After seating them, I attempted to do a test print but got the message "incompatible cartridge(s) The indicated cartridges are not intended for use in this printer" and there is a white oval shape icon underneath.  I verified the cartridges are the correct ones.

I removed the color cartridge, and the message says that it's printing in single cartridge mode and will work.  I can only print in black and white.

I did all the suggestions provided by the virtual agent (remove and reseat the cartridge, power cycle the printer, clean the contacts, check for firmware update) but nothing worked.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Hi @himurak23,

I'd like to help!

I understand you are facing cartridge error and have tried all the suggestions by the virtual agent.

If you have already performed the steps from the document  Ink cartridge errors and the issue persists, it could be a cartridge failure.

Please reach out to HP Support in your region regarding the replacement options for your printer.

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Hope this helps!
