I have an OfficeJet Pro 9025E which I love. In December we had to replace our router with a 5Ghz router. Now our printer will not connect to the internet...we've tried every possible solution and research says that model will not connect to 5 G.....which is fine but I still want to use my printer. I was enrolled in Instant Ink, which I cancelleld. I have replaced all of my cartridges with new purchased cartridges, done a hard reset on the printer and it still says that it cannot print until connected to the internet. What do I need to do to simply print using a USB cable from my laptop? I don't want to have to discard this still like new printer just because I can't print wirelessly. HELP...I'm getting so frustrated with it being locked up!

Hi @sunflower1956,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're experiencing some frustration with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9025E printer. While it's true that some printer functionalities might rely on an internet connection, you should still be able to use your printer via a USB connection for basic printing tasks, even if it's not connected to the internet.
Here are some steps you can take to try to resolve the issue:
USB Connection: Connect your printer to your laptop using a USB cable. Ensure that the USB cable is securely connected to both the printer and your laptop.
Driver Installation: Make sure that you have the appropriate printer drivers installed on your laptop. Sometimes, printers require specific drivers to be installed for proper communication. You can usually find the drivers on the HP website. Make sure you download the drivers for your specific printer model and your laptop's operating system.
Printer Settings: Check the printer settings on your laptop. Ensure that your printer is selected as the default printer and that it's set up to use the USB connection.
Printer Status: Check the status of your printer on your laptop. Make sure it's recognized by your operating system and that it's not showing any errors.
Test Print: Try printing a test page from your laptop to see if the printer responds. You can usually do this from the printer settings or the devices and printers section of your laptop's control panel.

I hope this helps.

I've done all the things you suggested and more....my printer won't even simply scan and print a document....I get the same message "Printer must be connected to the internet to print"...it has all new purchased cartridges, is hooked to my laptop with a USB cable...it SHOULD work but it's been locked up by the Instant Ink process.

Routers are typically dual band, to support older products. Check your device. If it is, you simply need to create a separate SSID (network identifier) for the 2.4 Ghz channel and configure the printer to connect to that SSID only.
