HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I have tried the troubleshooter and no problems found. It will not print both sides anymore. I have cleaned it, checked for updates, restarted, etc. I have aan Envy 7855. It has chronically messaged out of paper when there was paper in it.

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like you're dealing with two frustrating issues: the printer not printing double-sided and the persistent "out of paper" error.

Let’s tackle these step by step to get your HP ENVY Photo 7855 back on track:

1. Fixing the Double-Sided Printing Issue

Check Printer Settings:

  • Open the document you want to print and go to File > Print.
  • Click on Printer Properties or Preferences.
  • Ensure that Two-Sided Printing or Duplex Printing is enabled. Select Automatic if available.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Visit the HP Support website and download the latest firmware for your printer. Firmware updates often resolve duplex printing issues.

Reinstall the Printer Driver:

  • Uninstall the current driver:
    • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
    • Right-click your printer and select Remove Device.
  • Download and install the latest driver from the HP Support website.

Manually Enable Duplex Printing:

  • If the automatic duplex option is missing, you may need to enable it manually:
    • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
    • Right-click your printer and select Printer Properties.
    • Under the Device Settings tab, ensure that Duplex Unit is set to Installed.

2. Resolving the "Out of Paper" Error

Check Paper Tray and Alignment:

  • Ensure the paper is loaded correctly in the main tray. Adjust the paper guides so they lightly touch the edges of the paper.
  • Avoid overloading the tray or using damaged paper.

Clean the Paper Rollers:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Open the paper tray and locate the rollers inside.
  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to clean the rollers. Allow them to dry completely before plugging the printer back in.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for 2-3 minutes.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on. This can clear temporary errors.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • As with the duplex issue, updating the firmware can also resolve paper detection problems.

Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool from the HP Support website.
  • Use it to diagnose and fix any hardware or software issues related to the paper feed.

Let me know how these steps work for you or if you need further assistance—I’m here to help you get your printer running smoothly again! 🌟
