Hi @emdee0809,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you can try the steps to troubleshoot the "add paper" error on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 All-In-One Printer:

Check the Paper Tray:

  • Ensure the paper is loaded correctly in the tray and not overfilled.
  • Adjust the paper guides so they fit snugly against the paper stack.
  • Make sure the paper type and size match the settings on the printer.

Inspect the Paper Feed Rollers:

  • Open the paper tray and look inside the printer for any jammed paper or debris.
  • Clean the paper feed rollers with a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water.
  • Allow the rollers to dry completely before reassembling the tray and testing the printer.

Reset the Printer:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds, then reconnect the power cord to the wall outlet and the printer.
  • Turn the printer back on and try printing again.

Update Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Ensure the printer firmware is up to date by checking the HP support website for any available updates for your printer model.

Check Printer Settings:

  • On your printer's control panel, go to the paper settings menu and make sure the paper size and type are set correctly.
  • Sometimes, resetting the paper settings to default can help resolve detection issues.

Perform a Printer Diagnostic:

  • Use the printer's built-in diagnostic tools to perform a print quality report or a paper feed test. This can help identify and resolve issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
