SO we spent a few weeks away on vacation and we returned home to find the computer and printer will not talk.  Even when I make sure they are networked the same on the router (we have more than one router) the printer says it is connected and the computer says it is not.  Can anyone help?  I'm not paying HP to fix this...

I am in grad school and I also use th computer and printer for work and I CANNOT do without a printer!

Welcome to HP Support Forum. Firstly, please download an run the following tool (for Windows computers only):

      http://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/HPPSdr.exe

It may fix the problem for you. If not, post back full error message(s).

Already did that.  It said I didn't have the full device software (yet there are no new updates from the last time I used the printer on December 19??), but I clicked download anyway and it didn't work.  Keeps bringing me back to the same "you need the full device software" message every time I run the print/scan doctor.
