Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Printer has stopped printing graphics and barcodes, such as for egift cards and coupons.  Worked fine until an auto update overnight. I tried updating drivers.  Thanks for any help.

Interesting -- printing a saved Snipped image or saving and printing the PDF file as an image should work (in my opinion).

Although the bar codes and some text or graphics might contain elements the printer software can translate, printing as an image prints colors and lines -- printer software does not have to understand bars, text, or other content.

Certainly try reinstalling the printer software.

Wireless printing, assuming the mystery update did not disrupt the connection to the printer and the network should not be an issue.

If I think of anything else, I will post back.

Some options:

  • If you do want to reinstall the printer software, uninstall the existing print programs from Programs and Features > reboot / restart the computer and log in > download and install a fresh copy of the Full Feature Software

HP Deskjet F4580/F4583 All-in-One printer Full Feature Software and Drivers

NOTE:  If using USB cable, disconnect the cable before you remove / install the software > connect the USB cable when instructed during the latter part of the installation procedure

  • Use Snip > save the image as a .jpg file > print the image

Snip – available since Vista!  Check out the “delay” feature in Windows 10

Snipping Tool in Windows 10 / 8 / 7: Tips & Tricks to capture screenshots

  • Save the webpage as a PDF file > print the PDF file as an image

  1. Reinstall / Update your PDF Reader (Adobe Reader DC / Foxit)
  2. Open PDF file > print as image
