I've had the deskjet 2200 series printer for a while now. My problem is when I try to print more than one or two pages. It sometimes takes so long to print a page after the 2nd one. It prints a streak (the cartridge goes from side to side once) every 6-10 secs. And sometimes it would totally stop in mid of the page and won't cancel until I unplug it.. Is it too old or something?

The slow printing you are describing would typically be caused by a failing print cartridge. I would suggest the following: remove the color cartridge, then send a text print job to the printer. If the printer still prints slowly the black cartridge is at fault and should be replaced. If the printer prints at normal speed with the black cartridge installed remove the black cartridge and install the color cartridge. Now send a test page. If the page now prints slowly the color cartridge is at fault and should be replaced.
If the cartridges still show ink available and they are HP original cartridges (not reman or refilled) the cartridges do have a warranty, see the document here for information.
Please post back here with your results. If you need a cartridge replacement please post the warranty date on your cartridge.
