Hi hope you can help.
When printing a single page or several pages the printer stops on the last page halfway through the printing and waits 20 - 30 seconds before finishing the printing.
I have had this problem for about a month ever since Apple issued its last OS update. I have been in touch with both Apple & HP but nobody has offered a solution.
If I want to get printer status details from the printer it will print this with no delay.

Hello, @Staggear – Hope you are well 🙂
Allow me to welcome to HP Support Forums! It is a great platform to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others!
Going through your post, I see that you are having trouble printing using your HP printer. This looks like an issue with the printer drivers. Try the steps listed below to try and fix the issue:
- Uninstall the old printer drivers first. Follow the steps mentioned here: http://hp.care/2cKwLyC
- Now run the Apple Software Update. Check here for steps: http://hp.care/2cNgw3C
- Restart your computer and printer.
- Click the Apple menu icon, and then click “System Preferences”.
- Click “Printers and Scanner” / “Print and Scan” or “Print and Fax”.
- Right-click the blank space in the Printers list, and then click “Reset printing system”.
- Click “Reset” in the confirmation window.
- Enter an administrator username and password, and then click “OK”.
- Wait until the printing system is reset and no devices show in the Printers list
- Restart your computer and then go back to System preferences – Printers and scanners.
- Click the “Add button” (+).
- Find, and then select the name of your printer from the printer list, and then click “Add” to add your printer.
- Click “Print Using...”, and then select the name of your printer (By default “Airprint” would be selected)
Let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!
Good luck 🙂

Hi Dvortex,
Sorr for the delay in getting back to you but was tied up with other things.
I uninstalling and then updated from the App store, but everything was already updated.
Worked my way through the System Preferences and Reset Printing System eventualy got to Add Button, selected my printer, at this stage it was calling my printer OfficeJet Pro 8710 but it is actualy OfficeJet Pro 8715, this may not make any difference, but thought I would mention it. Eventualy it tells me.
The software for the printer was installed incorrectly. Please reinstall the software from the manufacturer.
I am not sure how to proceed from here, do I go to the HP site and look for updates?
Do you want me to start all over again?
Regards
Peter

Hi @Staggear,
Thank you for your reply, I'll be more than glad to help you.
I understand that you get an error message that the printer software is not installed properly.
It looks like you were interacting with @Dvortex, but he is out of the office today so I'll take over from here.
This issue could occur if the drivers are not installed properly.
Let's go through a few steps to uninstall and reinstall the drivers:
Step 1: Uninstall the Drivers:
Please follow the steps provided to uninstall the printer software in the link: Uninstalling the Printer Software (Windows)
Also, please follow the steps provided below to completely remove the printer software from printer properties.
Steps to remove printer driver files from Print Server Properties:
1. Open the Print Server Properties dialog window by doing one of the following:
o Click the Start menu and in the search field type 'printui /s /t2' (without the quotes), and then press Enter or click it in the search list.
o Press WINDOWS-R on the keyboard to bring up the Run window, type in 'printui /s /t2' (without the quotes), and then press Enter or click OK.
o From the Start menu or the Start screen:
o Open Devices and Printers.
o Select any printer and then click "Print server properties" at the top of the window.
o Click on the Drivers tab.
2. Select the printer driver you wish to uninstall.
3. Click the Remove button.
4. Select "Remove driver and driver package" and click OK.
Step 2: Download and install the Drivers from the link: Installing a Mac Printer Driver Using Apple Software Update
For Scanning you may use the HP Easy Scan from the link: How to Scan from the Computer (Mac)
Let me know if this works.
You have a good day ahead.

Hi All,
Well the good news is that the printer is finally working properly!
The thing is I am not sure what the fix was. It was saying that the software was not installed correctly, so I decided that I would have a go at installing everything the next morning.
The next morning I had some stuff that I needed to print so I just went ahead and printed it and it worked perfectly. I wasn't sure if it was a one off or something else, but everything I printed just went straight through with no delays on any pages. Well I just hope it stays that way and that the next OS upgrade from Apple doesn't do something else to it.
So all is well that ends well!
Thanks everyone.
Peter
