I couldn't add a reply to an older post, found here
and another post with the same issue
My printer (networked through wifi) was working great, then a few minutes later it just starting printing 1/4, 1/2, or 1/3 a page of a picture I was trying to print. I would get an error message pop-up (before the printer even started printing), despite the error, it would start printing and stop mid-way. Checking the system tray, it would say "restarting" under the current printing task. Then the printer would continue trying to print, over and over again; but each print would stop mid-way.
Using the software to clean/align heads all printed perfect. Test pages too. It made no sense. So I decided to use a USB cable instead of wifi, a lo and behold it printed normally. I'm going to try and reset the router, but can't right this minute.
Is there some other reason that this problem could occur?
I know HP will auto reply with some boiler plate nonsense that doesn't help, but hoping someone with actual knowledge knows what causes this issue.

Hi @ShaneDutchess,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Based on your description, it seems that your issue is related to network communication rather than the printer's hardware. Here are some possible reasons why this issue could occur and suggestions on how to address them:
Wi-Fi Connectivity and Interference: Wi-Fi issues are common causes of problems with networked printers. Interference from other wireless devices, weak signals, or overburdened networks can disrupt the data transmission between your computer and printer, leading to incomplete print jobs.
- Solution: Ensure your printer is within a good range of your Wi-Fi router. Try reducing the number of active devices connected to your Wi-Fi or change the Wi-Fi channel through your router settings to avoid interference.
Printer Driver or Software Issues: Sometimes, the printer software on your computer or the firmware on the printer might have bugs or incompatibilities, especially after updates.
- Solution: Make sure you have the latest printer driver installed. Visit the HP website to download the latest driver for your printer model.
IP Address Conflict: If another device on your network accidentally gets assigned the same IP address as your printer, it could interrupt the printer's ability to communicate properly.
- Solution: Try setting a static IP address for your printer through your router’s settings. This ensures your printer always has the same IP address and reduces the risk of conflicts.
Print Spooler Problems: The print spooler on your computer might be encountering issues processing the print job, especially if it's a large file or high-resolution image.
- Solution: Try clearing the print spooler. You can do this by stopping the print spooler service via the Services app in Windows, deleting the files in C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS, and then restarting the service.
Router Issues: As you mentioned, the router itself might be having issues that could be affecting its performance.
- Solution: Resetting the router as you planned can help. Additionally, checking for firmware updates for your router can also be beneficial.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
