Brand new printer, ethernet connected. While installing it for the first time, it failed while upgrading firmware and now it keep showing this error message and rebooting:
Printer error ocurred 77.02.07
A critical system error has occurred.
restart the printer and try again.
if the problem persist, contact your support representative.
FW version:
6.15.0.2103-202309210822
I can do nothing because it keeps rebooting. It has been disconnected from power for hours but still the same. What could I do?
I read about firmware upgrade from USB flash drive from preboot menu but I didn't find how to get to preboot menu with my printer model.
Thanks in advance

Hi @Rutsagig,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 9122e is stuck in a firmware upgrade loop due to the critical system error. Here’s what you can try to resolve the issue.
Power Cycle and Check Connections
- Unplug the Printer: Disconnect it from power and all other cables (Ethernet, USB).
- Wait: Leave it unplugged for at least 10 minutes.
- Reconnect: Plug the printer back in and connect it to your network or computer.
Firmware Recovery via USB (if applicable)
Some HP printers can be recovered using a USB flash drive. Here’s a general approach to this process:
- Prepare the USB Drive: Format a USB flash drive to FAT32.
- Download Firmware: Visit HP’s support website, search for your printer model, and download the latest firmware file available. You may need to get in touch with HP support to obtain this if it's not readily available.
- Copy the Firmware: Save the firmware file onto the USB drive.
- Insert the USB Drive: Insert the USB drive into the printer.
- Boot the Printer: Power on the printer while holding down specific keys (often the "Resume" or "Cancel" button). Consult your printer’s manual or HP support for the exact key combination.
Factory Reset
If you can access any menu options before the rebooting starts:
- Access the Menu: Check if there’s an option to perform a factory reset.
- Follow Prompts: If the printer allows, follow the on-screen prompts to reset it to factory settings.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
