Hi @Topete,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The issues you're experiencing with your HP Photosmart D7268 printer, indicated by the flashing (!) symbol, a black touchscreen, and the diagnostic results, suggest several potential problems primarily related to the printhead and ink cartridges. Here's a breakdown of the findings and steps to resolve them.

Diagnosing the Issues

Flashing (!) Symbol: This typically indicates a problem with the printer, such as low or expired ink cartridges, a printhead issue, or another hardware malfunction.

Extended Self-Test Results:

  • Ink Levels:
    • Black: 850
    • Yellow: 450
    • Light Cyan: 0
    • Cyan: 25
    • Light Magenta: 1150
    • Magenta: 0
  • The ink levels for Light Cyan and Magenta are at 0, and the Cyan and Yellow cartridges are expired. This means you will need to replace these cartridges.
  • The cartridges showing as "expired" need to be replaced, even if they contain some ink.

Print Head Calibration Confidence Level: 0: This suggests that the printhead is not functioning correctly, which can be caused by clogs, misalignment, or failure.

Steps to Resolve the Issues

Replace Expired Cartridges:

  • Purchase and install new cartridges for the Light Cyan, Cyan, and Magenta colors. Ensure you use genuine HP cartridges to avoid compatibility issues.

Check Printhead:

  • Clean the Printhead:
    • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
    • Open the printer cover and remove the printhead carefully.
    • Clean the printhead nozzles with a soft, lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water or rubbing alcohol.
    • Reinstall the printhead and cartridges after they are completely dry.

Perform a Printhead Alignment:

  • Once the new cartridges are installed, access the printer's settings through the control panel (if it powers on) and perform a printhead alignment. If the touchscreen is still black, you might need to use the printer software on your computer to perform this alignment.

Reset the Printer:

  • Unplug the printer from the power outlet and wait for about 5-10 minutes.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on. This may reset any temporary errors.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • If you can access the printer software on your computer, check for any firmware updates that may improve functionality.

If Problems Persist

If replacing the cartridges and cleaning the printhead does not resolve the issues, the printhead may need to be replaced. Additionally, if the touchscreen remains black after trying the above steps, it could indicate a hardware failure.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
