My HP Photosmart 7520 printer suddenly refused to turn on.
I followed the guide on the HP Support site and disconnected everything for a few minutes. The power socket was live and the green light on the power pack illuminated but the printer still refused to turn on. In desperation I tried another power socket and this time the printer started. Then a few months later the same thing happened again. I tried the original socket and the second socket after disconnecting everything but with no joy. I then tried a third fully functioning socket in the room and this also did not work the printer. I then ran an extension lead from another room and this time the printer started up.
Can anyone shed any light on this as to me the electricity is the same from any socket in my house. Why will the printer start connected to some sockets and not others? Why does it work fine connected to a socket for many months and then suddenly refuse to start? What happens when I run out of sockets to plug into?
Yours bemused and confused.

I had some building work done on the house and power had to be turned off. Afterwards the printer would not turn on again. I had however purchased a new power supply unit in readiness and when connecting this the printer worked fine. In a subsequent power off situation with the new power supply unit, the printer started with no problem. I can only assume the original power supply unit was passed its best.

I understand you are having issues where the printer does not power on, don't worry, though, as I have a few recommendations for you,
This could be an issue with the loose connection on the printer where you connect the cord.
Please make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.
Perform a Hard reset on the printer.
* With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
* Remove USB cable, if present.
* Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
* Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
* Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.
