Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums.
I understand that you have an HP ENVY 4520 All-in-One Printer. I read that the printer prints only a few lines and words. I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job.
For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:
- Is the printer able to make a photocopy correctly? If yes, then it indicates that the printer's hardware is good.
- Did the printer perform the alignment procedure after you installed the new ink cartridges?
I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:
- Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON.
- Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.
- Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
- The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector.
- Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.
Please perform a firmware update on the printer via this link.
If the issue persists while copying too then please perform the steps from this HP document. These steps will help in fixing various print quality related issues.

But it does not work anyway.
I have tried to get in touch online with HP support but it is impossible. They do not seem to want to help their customers with the problems on their products. Now I give up and buy a new printer of either Canon or Epson.
