Hello, @joysslon – Hope you are well 🙂
Thanks for reaching out to HP Support Forums! I will certainly do my best to help you 🙂
I see that you are having issues while scanning to the PC. Is the issue specific to scanning to computer? Did you try scanning “from” the PC? Is it working fine? Please do let me know!
Scanning to computer is not working either because the scan to PC is not enabled or because the full feature drivers are not installed. First, try to enable the scan to PC by following the steps below:
- Go to Finder – Applications
- Go to HP / Hewlett Packard – Envy 5660
- Locate and open the HP utility.
- Find Scan / Scan to PC – Make sure Scan to PC is enabled.
- Save the settings, restart the PC & printer and then try to scan again.
If the above steps do not work, then try the steps below to completely reinstall the printer drivers:
- Uninstall the old printer drivers first. Follow the steps mentioned here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1980013-1980057-16
- Now run the Apple Software Update. Check here for steps: https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/personal-safety/ips4930e3486/web
- Restart your computer and printer.
- Click the Apple menu icon, and then click “System Preferences”.
- Click “Printers and Scanner” / “Print and Scan” or “Print and Fax”.
- Right-click the blank space in the Printers list, and then click “Reset printing system”.
- Click “Reset” in the confirmation window.
- Enter an administrator username and password, and then click “OK”.
- Wait until the printing system is reset and no devices show in the Printers list
- Now click https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers to download and install the printer driver.
- In the “Add printer” window, make sure you add the printer as mentioned below:
- Click the “Add button” (+).
- Find, and then select the name of your printer from the printer list, and then click “Add” to add your printer.
- Click “Print Using...”, and then select the name of your printer (By default “Airprint” would be selected)
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.
Good luck 🙂

Thanks Dvortex. Your advice allowed me to scan from Printer. I've been having trouble with HP scanning for a couple of months. At that time, HP only referred me to a professional site that told me I had been scammed and they would protect me from future scamming at a price. They did not solve my problem, but I had to pay them the $99. Thank goodness, people like you are now available. I know that this will happen again, as it had in the past, but this time, I saved your answer.
