My printer won’t power on. I’ve tried unplugging it, changing the outlet, holding the power button down for 20 seconds. Not sure what else

Hi @lytlelb

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw printer is not powering on despite trying basic troubleshooting steps, here are a few additional things you can try.

  • Check power connections: Ensure that the power cable is securely connected to both the printer and a functional power outlet. You can also try using a different power cable if available.
  • Reset the printer: Locate the power button on the printer and press and hold it for about 60 seconds. This will drain any residual power and can help reset the printer.
  • Check the power adapter: If your printer uses an external power adapter, verify that it is functioning correctly.
  • Test with a different outlet: While you mentioned changing the outlet, it's worth trying another one just to be sure there's no issue with the power source.
  • Remove additional connections: Disconnect any USB cables or Ethernet cables connected to the printer. Sometimes, a faulty cable can prevent the printer from powering on.
  • Check for physical damage: Inspect the power cord, power socket on the printer, and any visible components for any signs of physical damage.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I have seen a couple of these units with failed power supplies. Parts are to offered by HP so you need to look to used parts suppliers on ebay.
