HP 6310 all in one
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi.  I have a 6310 HP all-in-one.  The black cartridge was running low, printing very lightly / faint.   so I replaced it with a genuine HP cartridge. The printer recognized it as genuine.

Now the printer won't print anything at all.  Everything is a blank page.  I've tried aligning the heads, cleaning the heads including the 2nd level clean and nothing will print.

I know the color cartridges are low on ink but I don't do a lot of color printing (mostly black only) and don't want / need to replace those right now.

Been messing with this for over a day.  Help!!

Thanks!

Remo.

Hi,

Sorry to be a bother but hoping to hear from someone soon.  I know a 'printing emergency' sounds ridiculous but I do have a lot of stuff coming due that I have to get out and if I can't fix this asap I need to go buy a new printer.

Thanks in advance for any help available.

Regards,

Remo

Hi.  Just some further information that doesn't make sense. When I connect the printer and launch the HP Solution Center it says HP OfficeJet 6300 disconnected.  But that doesn't add up because I can send a page to the printer and scan from the printer.  Argh!!!!

Hi @rlwremo,

Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips! I understand you are having issues while printing blank pages from your HP OfficeJet  printer. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Have you recently made any changes on the printer before the issue started?

Are you using genuine HP ink cartridges or refilled cartridges?

Have you tried to clean the ink cartridge contacts?

Are you able to make a copy from the printer?

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

Please make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

Remove all the ink cartridges and then try to perform a hard reset on the printer.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Now insert the ink cartridges and then try to print a test page and check if it works.

Let’s first try and make a “photocopy” to determine whether the issue is with the printer or not. Place a document on the scanner glass and choose “Copy” option. If the printer is making a good copy, then the printer hardware is fine.

If the copy comes out fine, then it looks like an issue with the print drivers. Hence, I would suggest you to do a clean install of the printer drivers

Here are the steps:

First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.

Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP OfficeJet printer entries and uninstall them.

Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.

Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.

Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.

Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

Restart your computer.

Now click on this link: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software11/COL30951/mp-76831-1/AIO_CDB_Net_Full_Win_WW_130_141.exe to download and install the full feature software for this printer.

Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Let me know if those steps worked for you.

If they did, that’s awesome!

Give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

That’ll help us and others see that we’ve got the answers!

Good Luck.

Thank you for the detailed response.

To answer your questions:

Have you recently made any changes on the printer before the issue started?

A) As I indicated in my post, the black cartridge was clearly running out as it was printing very little ink and I replaced it with a genuine HP black cartridge.

Are you using genuine HP ink cartridges or refilled cartridges?

A) Genuine HP, the printer displayed on the screen that it recognized it as a genuine HP cartridge.

Have you tried to clean the ink cartridge contacts?

A) I ran the HP head cleaning process. I would have to read about cleaning the contacts.

Are you able to make a copy from the printer?

A) No. Nothing prints at all; printing, copying, diagnostics (cleaning / realigning heads)

I will try the hard reset and report back. Thank you for the detailed instructions on that.

Hi again,

Unfortunately the hard reset did not change anything.

I also found, downloaded, installed and ran HPPdr utility program and ran diagnostics.  It said it "found issues" and corrected them (didn't provide details regarding what those issues were) but still the test pages it printed were blank and doing a straight copy on the printer doesn't do anything different.

Hi @rlwremo,

I reviewed the post. It is great to have you back. You have displayed brilliant efforts, great attitude and commendable technical competence to try and resolve the issue. Kudos to you for a job well done. 🙂

As @Jeet_singh is out for the day, I am responding on his behalf. You've tried some extensive troubleshooting and the issue persists.

If you've tried making copies directly from the printer without any communication from the computer and it still does not copy, then it points to a hardware issue with the printer. There is more to it than meets the eye. I am being honest about it by keeping your best interest in mind without beating around the bush. I
