Hello Ruben752,

Thank you for posting your concern,

Troubleshooting Printer Issues When Out of Paper Message Displays

When your computer indicates that the printer is out of paper despite having plenty of paper loaded, it may be due to a miscommunication between the printer and your PC. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Check Paper Alignment:

    • Make sure the paper is properly aligned in the tray. Incorrect alignment can sometimes cause the sensors to incorrectly report a paper-out situation.
  2. Inspect the Printer Settings:

    • Verify that the printer settings on your computer match the type of paper loaded in the tray. Mismatches in paper size and type could cause the printer to report an error if it doesn't detect what it expects.
  3. Reset the Printer:

    • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
    • Wait about 60 seconds before plugging it back in and turning it on again. This can often reset any temporary connectivity or communication issues.
  4. Check for Obstructions:

    • Ensure there are no obstructions in the paper feed path. Small bits of torn paper or dust can cause jams or sensing errors.
  5. Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers:

    • Ensure your printer drivers are up to date. Visit the HP Support website to download the latest drivers for your printer model.
  6. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor:

    • HP provides a free utility called HP Print and Scan Doctor that can diagnose and fix issues related to printing. Download and run this tool to see if it identifies and solves the error.
  7. Check Firmware and Software Updates:

    • Sometimes, outdated software or firmware can cause communication errors. Ensure both the printer firmware and any associated software on your device are updated.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, consider reaching out to HP Support for further assistance as there could be a more technical issue at play.
