Hi @Flygal61,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Officejet 8600 printer is only printing test pages but failing to print documents or webpages from your laptop after a Windows 11 update, you can follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:

**1. Check Printer Connection and Status

  • Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your network or directly to your laptop via USB.
  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers on your laptop.
  • Verify that your HP Officejet 8600 is set as the default printer and is not showing any error status (e.g., offline, error).

**2. Update Printer Drivers

  • Go to the HP Support website and search for your HP Officejet 8600 model.
  • Download and install the latest drivers compatible with Windows 11. This will ensure compatibility with the latest operating system updates.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Uninstall Old Drivers:
    • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
    • Right-click on your HP Officejet 8600 and select Remove device.
  • Reinstall Printer:
    • Restart your laptop.
    • Install the new drivers downloaded from the HP website, and follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall the printer.

**3. Run Windows Printer Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  • Find Printer in the list and click Run.
  • Follow the prompts to identify and fix any issues.

**4. Check Print Spooler Service

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Locate Print Spooler in the list.
  • Right-click on Print Spooler and select Restart.
  • This can resolve issues with print jobs getting stuck.

**5. Verify Printer Settings and Configuration

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on your HP Officejet 8600 and select Printer properties.
  • Ensure that the settings (like paper size, print quality) are correctly configured.
  • Make sure there are no stuck or paused print jobs in the queue.
  • If necessary, clear the print queue by canceling all jobs.

**6. Check Windows 11 Update Impact

  • Go to Settings > Windows Update and check for any updates or issues related to the recent Windows 11 update.
  • If the problem started after a specific update, you might consider uninstalling that update temporarily to see if it resolves the issue.
  • Go to Settings > Windows Update > Update history > Uninstall updates.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
