Hi @Crayfar,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When your HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e printer does not print documents as shown in the print preview, it could be due to several potential issues. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve this problem.

Check Printer Settings

  • Ensure Printer is Selected: Make sure the correct printer is selected in the print dialog.
  • Print Quality and Paper Type: Verify that the print quality and paper type settings match your document.

Update Printer Drivers

  • Drivers: Ensure you have the latest printer drivers installed. You can download the latest drivers from the HP Support website.

Check Print Preview Settings

  • Match Settings: Ensure that the settings in the print preview (such as page layout, orientation, and scaling) match those in the print dialog.
  • Margins: Check that the margins in the print settings match those in the document.

Software-Specific Settings

  • Application Settings: If you're printing from a specific application (e.g., Word, PDF reader), check the print settings within that application. Different applications may handle print settings differently.

Document Formatting

  • Embedded Objects: Ensure that any embedded images or objects in the document are properly formatted and supported by the printer.
  • Compatibility: Some complex document formatting or graphics might not be supported by all printers.

Print a Test Page

  • Test Page: Print a test page to check if the printer is working correctly. This can often help identify if the issue is with the printer or the document.

Printer Firmware

  • Update Firmware: Make sure the printer firmware is up-to-date. Firmware updates can often resolve compatibility issues and improve printer performance.

Clear Print Queue

  • Clear Queue: Sometimes, clearing the print queue and restarting the print job can resolve issues.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • HP Tool: Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool to diagnose and fix common printing problems. This tool is available on the HP Support website.

Reinstall Printer Software

  • Reinstall: Uninstall the printer software and drivers, then reinstall them. This can resolve any corrupted or misconfigured settings.

Check for Printer Errors

  • Error Messages: Look for any error messages or lights on the printer that might indicate a problem.

Print in Different Modes

  • Draft Mode: Try printing in draft mode to see if the issue persists. This can help identify if the problem is related to print quality settings.

By systematically going through these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue causing your HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e printer to not print documents as shown in the print preview.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
