@Juliana777, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP printer is not printing in color on macOS 12.0 Monterey. Let’s go through a few steps to resolve this issue:

Check Printer Settings on macOS

  1. Open the document or image you want to print.
  2. Click File > Print.
  3. In the print dialog, click Show Details (if available).
  4. Look for a Color Options or Quality section.
  5. Ensure Color is selected instead of Black & White or Grayscale.

Reset the Printing System (Optional but Recommended)

  1. Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list and choose Reset printing system.
  3. Re-add your printer by clicking the + button.

Reinstall the HP Printer Drivers

  1. Remove the printer from Printers & Scanners.
  2. Go to HP Support page.
  3. Enter your printer model and download the latest macOS drivers.
  4. Install the driver and re-add the printer.

Run a Print Test

Try printing a color test page or image to verify if the issue is resolved.

Check Ink Levels and Cartridges

  • Make sure the color cartridges are not empty or clogged.
  • You can check this via the HP Smart app or your printer’s control panel.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
