Since I replaced the black cartridge, the printer will print test copies for fun, but nothing else. I've done the things suggested by virtual assistants but it still won't print. Checked supply levels ( going down after so many test pages). HP Utility says ' unable to communicate with the selected device, it may have been turned off or otherwise disabled. It's switched on again, after removing plugs and leads as instructed to. It doesn't photocopy either. Have had it since Jan 2014. Is it time to recycle it ?
The new cartridge is the same as the old one, which worked well for ages.
Any advice gladly received, thanks

@D2540, Welcome to HP Support Community!
This could be a possible hardware issue. Let us try some basic steps to resolve the issue-
Update the printer firmware
Download available firmware updates from the HP website
With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. For more information, go to Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware.
Have you tried using a different ink cartridge? When you say it does not photocopy, what happens when you try to make a copy on the printer?
Keep me posted for further assistance.
