Hello,
I'm trying to print. The printer feeds paper and everything sounds like it is printing, but it never actually applies any ink to the paper. Full cartridges are installed. Any help is appreciated. TIA!

Hi @sdude,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP DeskJet 2622 All-In-One Printer feeds paper and makes the usual printing sounds but doesn't apply any ink to the paper, there are several potential causes. Here’s a step-by-step troubleshooting guide:
1. Check the Cartridges
- Ensure Cartridges are Installed Correctly: Make sure the ink cartridges are properly installed and seated correctly in their respective slots.
- Remove and Reinsert Cartridges: Turn off the printer, remove the cartridges, and then reinsert them. Ensure they click into place.
- Clean the Contacts: Use a lint-free cloth and some distilled water to gently clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer.
2. Run the Printer's Built-in Diagnostics
- Print a Test Page:
- Press the "Resume" button (the one with the paper icon) until the printer starts printing.
- If a test page prints, this indicates that the hardware is likely functioning correctly, and the issue might be software-related.
3. Align and Clean the Printheads
- Access Printer Maintenance Tools:
- Go to the HP Printer Assistant on your computer.
- Navigate to the “Maintenance” or “Tools” tab.
- Run the “Align Printhead” and “Clean Printhead” tools.
4. Check Printer Settings
- Set the Printer as Default:
- Go to "Settings" > "Devices" > "Printers & scanners".
- Select your HP DeskJet 2622 and click “Set as default”.
- Check Print Queue:
- Ensure there are no stuck print jobs. Right-click on your printer icon and select “See what’s printing”. Cancel any pending jobs and try printing again.
5. Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers
- Update Drivers:
- Go to the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your HP DeskJet 2622.
- Install the drivers and restart your computer. Software and Drivers for HP DeskJet 2622 All-in-One Printer
- Reinstall Drivers:
- Uninstall the printer from “Devices & printers”.
- Reinstall the printer using the latest drivers from the HP website.
6. Check for Firmware Updates
- Firmware Update:
- Visit the HP Support website, search for firmware updates for your printer model, and follow the instructions to update the firmware. Update the firmware on an HP printer
7. Check for Obstructions or Paper Jams
- Open the Printer: Check for any paper jams or foreign objects that might be obstructing the print mechanism.
- Clear Any Obstructions: If found, gently remove them and try printing again.
8. Perform a Hard Reset
- Hard Reset:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn on the printer.

Hello,
I have a bigger issue now.
I have tried all of these steps. My printer has a blinking orange light next to the ink indicators and the black ink icon is flashing on the display. When I try to print test pages or perform printhead cleaning, it says cartridge error.
