HP Laser Jet MFP M234dw. Won't print. Shows orange light in the front and flashes the (i - Information icon)
It prints out status so I know the cartridge works. Printout indicates 'Normal' status for ink. Also indicates it's connected to Wifi.

@kiwidrumNYC, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
HP LaserJet MFP M234dw showing an orange light and flashing the information (i) icon, but still able to print status pages—this typically indicates a non-critical error or attention state that needs to be resolved before normal printing resumes.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Check for Error Codes or Messages
- When the orange light and (i) icon flash, the printer is trying to alert you.
- Print a Configuration Report:
- Press and hold the Information (i) button until all buttons light up.
- Then press the Resume button (the one with the down arrow).
- Look for any error codes or warnings on the printout.
Check for Common Issues
Refer to this official HP guide for blinking light patterns and their meanings: HP LaserJet MFP M232-M237 - Error Codes and Blinking Lights
Some common causes:
- Paper Jam: Open all access doors and trays to check for jammed paper.
- Cartridge Issue: Even if it prints status pages, try removing and reseating the toner cartridge.
- Door Open: Ensure all doors (especially the toner access door) are fully closed.
- Out of Paper: Make sure paper is loaded correctly in the tray.
Use HP Smart App’s Diagnose & Fix Tool
- Download or open the HP Smart App on your PC or mobile.
- Go to Printer Settings > Advanced Settings > Diagnose & Fix.
- This tool can automatically detect and resolve many issues.
Restart the Printer
- Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source.
- Wait 60 seconds, then plug it back in and power it on.
Update Firmware
- Outdated firmware can cause unexpected behavior.
- Visit the HP Support page and search for your printer model to download the latest firmware.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
