I have tried turning computer and printer off and on.  Tried the diagnose & fix feature.  None of these worked.  All ink is new in printer.  What else could it be?  I cannot get the printer front display to light up.

Thank you!

@Texan1960, Hi there, and welcome to HP Support Community!

Thank you for reaching out with your concern. I'm glad to assist you today.

If your HP printer won’t print and the front display won’t light up, even after trying basic troubleshooting like restarting the printer and using the HP Diagnose & Fix tool, it may be a power-related issue or a hardware fault. Let’s walk through some steps to help you get it working again:

1. Check Power Connection

  • Ensure the power cord is firmly connected to both the printer and a working wall outlet (avoid power strips or surge protectors).
  • Try a different wall outlet if possible.
  • If the printer has an external power brick, make sure the LED on the brick is lit.

2. Perform a Power Reset

  • Unplug the printer from the power source.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in directly to a wall outlet.
  • Press the Power button and check if the display lights up.

3. Check for Signs of Life

  • Listen for any sounds (fans, motors) or lights when powering on.
  • If the printer remains completely unresponsive, it may indicate a power supply failure.

4. Try a Different Power Cable

  • If you have access to another compatible HP printer power cable, try swapping it to rule out a faulty cable.

If the Printer Powers On but Still Won’t Print

Once the display lights up and the printer powers on:

Check Printer Status

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Make sure your printer is set as default and not in offline or paused mode.

Reinstall Printer Drivers
