HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I pay over $17. per month for Insta Ink.  I received and installed new cartridges.  The printer does not recognize the cartridges and will not print.  I have reinstalled all the cartridges multiple times.  I have turned off the printer, unplugged it, waited 30 minutes and restarted it - to no avail.  I have turned off my computer & printer, waited and then restarted them - all to no avail.  I have followed the directive to delete the scan & fix app.  I have attempted to download the suggested app to mediate the issue.  All to no avail.

The web site warns me about potential scammers posing as support resources.  The only scammer I see is HP taking my money without providing a service.

Hi @LMV3,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I completely understand how frustrating it is to pay for HP Instant Ink and receive new cartridges only to have your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e refuse to recognize them. You’ve already tried all the right steps, and I’m here to guide you through the troubleshooting process.

1. Confirm Instant Ink Enrollment and Internet Connection

Your printer must be enrolled in Instant Ink and connected to the internet to use Instant Ink cartridges.

  • Go to your printer’s touchscreen:
    • Tap Settings > Network Setup > Wireless Settings
    • Ensure Wi-Fi is connected
  • Sign in to your HP account at the HP Instant Ink Portal to confirm enrollment

If the printer is offline, it may block Instant Ink cartridge usage.

2. Check for Cartridge Authentication Errors

HP Instant Ink cartridges have embedded chips that must be authenticated online.

3. Reset the Printer

This clears temporary firmware or chip recognition issues.

  1. Turn off the printer
  2. Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall
  3. Wait 30 seconds
  4. Plug it back in directly to a wall outlet (not a surge protector)
  5. Turn the printer back on

4. Reinstall Cartridges Carefully

Sometimes reseating the cartridges helps:

  • Open the cartridge access door
  • Remove all cartridges
  • Check for ink or debris on the contacts
  • Reinsert each cartridge firmly into its color-coded slot

5. Use HP App or Virtual Assistant

HP Smart can help diagnose and fix cartridge issues automatically.

Or use HP’s Virtual Assistant:

I hope this helps.
