Hi @Isubella,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP printer isn't recognizing the Wi-Fi password and won't connect to the network, try these steps to troubleshoot.

Verify the Wi-Fi Password:

  • Check the password to ensure there are no typos. It’s case-sensitive, so make sure you're entering capital and lowercase letters exactly as required.

Reboot Devices:

  • Restart the printer by turning it off, unplugging it for 30 seconds, then plugging it back in.
  • Restart the router by unplugging it for about 30 seconds and then plugging it back in.
  • Restart your computer or mobile device as well.

Re-run the Wireless Setup:

  • If the printer has a display, go to the Wireless Settings or Network Setup menu, then select Wireless Setup Wizard. This will search for networks again, and you can re-enter your Wi-Fi password.

Reset Network Settings on the Printer:

  • Reset the printer’s network settings:
    • For most HP printers, this can be done by going to the Setup or Network menu and choosing Restore Network Defaults.
    • Alternatively, check the printer manual for specific reset instructions for your model.

Check Router Settings:

  • Ensure your router’s 2.4 GHz band is enabled. Many HP printers only connect to 2.4 GHz networks and not 5 GHz.
  • Make sure the router is set to WPA or WPA2 for security. HP printers don’t work with older or unusual security settings like WEP or open networks.

Use WPS (if supported):

  • If your router supports WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup), you can try connecting your printer this way:
    • Press the WPS button on the router.
    • Then, press the WPS button on your printer or use the printer’s menu to select WPS Push Button or PIN option.

Update Firmware:

  • Check for firmware updates on your printer. Outdated firmware may cause network connectivity issues. You can download the latest firmware from the HP website.

Reconnect via HP Smart App:

  • Try using the HP Smart app to reconfigure the wireless connection:
    1. Install the app on your mobile device or computer.
    2. Follow the app’s instructions to connect the printer to your network.

Static IP (Advanced):

  • Assigning a static IP address to the printer through your router’s settings might help maintain the connection.

Factory Reset (Last Resort):

  • If none of the above works, consider performing a factory reset on the printer and reconfiguring it for Wi-Fi. The option is usually found in the printer’s settings menu under Restore Defaults or Reset Settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
