Hello, @Gunth – Hope you are well 🙂

Welcome to the HP Forum! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips!

I see that we are having issues while using the Officejet printer on your Windows 10 PC. Let’s first try to fix this issue using HP Print and Scan Doctor (PSDR). PSDR is an automated tool which can diagnose and resolve printing and scanning problems. Please go to http://hp.care/2bZ9w2q to download and run HP PSDR. Once you open the program, select your printer and click on “Fix Printing” to automatically diagnose and fix the issue.

If the issue still persists, then try reinstalling the printer as suggested below:

  • Unplug the USB cable from the printer and computer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Now click on http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/oj5740/OJ5740__Basicx64_1107.exe to download and install the printer drivers.
  • Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Good luck 🙂

Device service setup

I have been trying to set this up for printing with my table (Apple iPad) which had worked (see first post) previously and then suddenly started giving me the "contacting printer" message and no longer printed.  I uninstalled the printer as suggested and am trying to print from my tablet.  Through the set up process (connecting to the network) I am not getting a message "Device service setup" and if I try o close the message it says it cannot continue with the set up process.  I am toally frustrated as there should be no set up to print to my printer from my iPad.  It had worked before and now it doesn't.

I am lost and totally confused.  thanks.

I FINALLY got it working.  Don't know what happened but I turned everything off and it has started working.  I can't thank you enough for your prompt reply.
