Hi @438339,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the red light blinking on the HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 4729!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Ink Cartridge Issue:

  • Check Cartridge Status: Open the printer’s ink cartridge access door and ensure cartridges are properly installed and not damaged.
  • Replace Ink Cartridges: If the cartridge is empty, try replacing it with a new one. Use genuine HP cartridges for optimal performance.

Paper Jam:

  • Check for Jams: Open the paper tray and inspect for any paper jams. Carefully remove any stuck paper without tearing it.
  • Load Paper Correctly: Make sure the paper is loaded properly and within the supported paper size and type for the printer.

Cartridge Door/Open Hatch:

  • Check All Doors: Make sure that all printer doors and access points are securely closed.

Printer Reset:

  • Perform a Reset: Turn off the printer, unplug it from power, wait a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Error Codes or Messages:

  • Check Display Panel: If the printer has a display panel, note any specific error codes or messages and follow on-screen instructions.

Additional Troubleshooting

If these steps do not resolve the issue, consider the following:

Firmware Update: Ensure that your printer firmware is up to date. Sometimes an update can resolve connectivity or recognition issues.
